Step by Step Guide forĀ FPV Beginners

If you’re a beginner and want to start with FPV, you’re on the right page! Getting into the hobby hasn’t become much easier in the past years with so many companies providing different FPV gear. The market offering is very confusing and it is hard to differentiate good components from cheap traps. But we are here to help: trust our experience and let us choose for you!

We broke down the equipment into four consequent steps to allow an easy entry into the hobby (or job, if you intend to become a professional FPV Pilot!). This way you don’t have to start with large financial investments to get the first FPV experience while still only buying high quality gear which you can use for a long time. Other (low-cost) starter sets often consist of cheap equipment which has to be replaced fast for better quality gear in order to really enjoy FPV. If you prefer the full package at once, check out our InstantFly starter Kit together with one of our BNF models.

Have a look below to find out more about each step of our FPV beginners guide.

STEP 1: FPV Simulator

One of the most important and cost saving steps is to get your first FPV experience in virtual environment. This step allows you to get comfortable in piloting an FPV drone without having to worry about crashing your brand new (expensive) drone. This will safe you ALOT of money. The simulator we recommend is Velocidrone which features close to real-life physics. If you feel comfortable flying FPV in this computer game, switching to the real world is no big deal! Of course, the remote controller comprised in this kit is the exact same you are going to use for your real drone later on in the Guide.

Step 2: Whoop Starter Kit

Once you feel comfortable flying in the virtual environment, it is time you get your hands on a real world drone. Its best to start with a small whoop so you can safely convert your skills from simulator to reality. You need all the items listed below. Check out a few extra batteries and spare props for the best experience.

STEP 3: Go Wild

Get your hands on a faster and more powerful drone for the ulitmate FPV experience. Each of our BNFs is compatible with your setup. The FlowX and RangeX series are usual candidates after rocking the small trainer whoop.Ā

STEP 4: Round off your Setup

Although our goal with this guide is to avoid crashing your drone as much as possible, there is no way around it. You will eventually break some components and the best help is replacing the parts yourself! Find a bunch of useful gadgets and tools to be able to cope with anything in your FPV adventure.

STEP 5: Go Professional

Once you mastered fpv flying and feeling confident in the air. You can get yourself some nice cinelifter drones to get some cine cameras in the air to get some crispy sharp full frameĀ  camera fpv footage. Please note these cinelifters are no toys and have incredible power to weight ratio. Are you brave enough to fly a cinelifter?
